Eternity

We wish upon the eternal sun.
But the ever fleeting time waits for none.
The flowers fall, even the leaves dry up.
The scent of a lover long gone.

Change is the ultimate truth and so is death.
Yet we try to keep that bird clasped.
No matter how beautiful or dear it is,
the one meant to fly ultimately will.

And we cannot point a finger at any
For reasons one or many.
As we all look at things as we please
The truth being the one that puts us to ease.

Right and wrong, good and evil
Separated with a thin line.
Standing on either side of it
Makes us a party to the deed.

We want to keep our bags full
Of everything that our heart wants.
But only if people were things,
we could put them up in locks.

One can only wait for the natural flow of things,
as a mere spectator to the game.
The tighter the grip, the looser it gets.
Just wait for the sun to rise once it sets.

Who are we meant to be and what are we meant to keep,
are questions with limitless possibilities.
The only limiting thing is our beliefs.
As nothing scares us more than not knowing.

Goodness

We are caught up in our inner contradictions.
Two people existing in one.
Two minds, each fighting for its own.
Two parts of one consciousness.

Our fears are shadows of our own making.
Minds encapsulated in faiths and convictions.
Blinds, more mental than physical
cover more of us than just our eyes.

We live our lives in protected shells.
Believing in the purity of the greater truths.
But not everyone stands for such higher values.
Some have wasted themselves in walls of lies.

We have the option to call for our own doom
by putting a roof over such walls.
Or we can build ourselves a house of glass.
Being vulnerable but being closer to God.

We are the creator of our own world.
In our hands is the power of Karma.
Be glad for being the good among the worst.
Because we are walking the path of Dharma.

Gasping

Many a lonely night whispered through my ears,
Traveling through the long hollow of emptiness.
The dark outside merging with the darker inside,
Passing through an endless tunnel.

Is it never going to end, my ordeal?
Sometimes the pain is a bit too hard to bear.
Tearing through the layers more and more;
The sharp edged knife rips apart the soul.

Hours and hours of blankly staring at the wall;
Waiting for the night to be over.
The tick tock of the clock being my only friend,
Fades in the early sounds of the dawn.

The deep caves of darkness that sit below the eyes,
And the old elastic of the corners of the mouth,
Sure love the empty rooms and the empty pockets
Of the worn out jeans and leather jacket.

Outside the world moves like a movie,
And inside life goes on in a motion slow.
Like the flat tyres of a bicycle
Moving through a bumpy road.

Perhaps life is all about perception;
And dark it appears in the shade.
But what if it's just a way to cover,
The dark from the blinding light.

Melt

The slow beating of the heart,
breath's stuck as if there's a lid on.
It has been raining for days;
But it's like I'm covered in raincoat overalls.

The bitten lips and the clenched fists,
Tell the tale of the darkest fears.
The night before the dawn or the night before more nights,
What's uncertain cannot be clear.

The swollen eyes, the reddened pair,
the ones with black caves dug beneath,
Hold the sorrows of the previous night
and many a previous nights indeed .

The pain that's more inner than outer;
The one that hurts like a thousand needles pierced deep.
Has taken the consciousness of the mind,
Leaving behind a long black dream.

Thin layers between the real and the imaginary.
Like onion peels none different from the other.
Each layer peeled off one at a time;
Only to find each one to be alike.

Like the chair with woven plastic and metalled edges,
Only the frame is strong but not the body.
Any minute a knife can cut through
And make it unfit for further use.

The cold is still there when a blanket covers.
And so is the eternal winter of the heart.
If the sun melts the ice to water,
Would I be the one who melts or the one who evaporates?

Dig up life

An unexpected journey taken on an impulse
Brought me to a travel on a train.
I got down and walked on foot to a small town,
within a city a place of its own.

I sat inside a cafe small,
And watched outside through its window still,
A Street rustling with a life loud
With colours dull and brown.

While I ordered a cup of coffee and a cupcake,
The lady on the counter had a smile not fake.
She took my order in the most pleasing way.
I lifted my food plate and went back to my sitting place.

From the window I saw
the poorest poor and the richest rich.
Poor from the tattered clothes and tough life.
Rich from the hard work and joy in their eyes.

A difference from the way we live in the cities,
The way we give up on small little things.
The proud in their walk like the richest king
Wasn't at all wrong for being a fearless being.

As I ate inside the sheltered nice place
I saw people having their meal at the dirty road carts.
While the sun, wind and flies embraced them all
they ate as if eating at a fancy restaurant.

We look at them with judging eyes
While they should be the ones to judge our pride.
After all they are a bunch of happy men
And we unhappy despite of the luxuries we get.

Its better to live a simple life
Where people are weighed higher than the material
Than live forever chasing meaningless success
When our dreams are other than those we are running for.

A day made all the difference to me.
An open look towards life is all we need.
We look only at the surface of the things.
While inside we can find true happiness if we dig.

In the Dark

Kohl smeared over my eyes;
the joy of meeting you after a long time.
Wanting to look my best in glitter slippers,
dancing to the beat of my heart's flutter.
We had planned to meet at the same old spot.
I had been sad for days ,you hadn't picked my calls.
Half in joy, half in pain.
I moved my legs in a dreamy way.
We met with a very formal greeting
A smile on my face, on yours a grin.
And I felt something different in your expression.
You acted like all's right but I felt a kind of tension.
You said let's go to the coffee shop
But I insisted we rather go to the park.
We sat on a bench and before you could talk,
I looked you in the eye and asked what was wrong.
And then I heard a shower of the most harmful words.
Lie after lie, hurt after hurt.
I could not believe my eyes or my ears.
Love had long gone and left behind an ocean full of tears.
Before wasting anymore time than I already had,
I got up to go with a goodbye hand.
I ran as fast as I could, went as far as I  could.
And only stopped as I reached the bus stop.
I sat on the waiting bench as the bus had not come yet.
And everything I had ignored back then started to make sense.
I was never loved , only made to believe I was.
I gave him my heart but his heart was cursed.
Liars can not be friends or lovers.
Only villains can they be.
I could have known his heart.
Had I noticed the person he was to everybody.
They say we suffer for a good reason.
And from our mistakes we learn.
We let the past lift off our hearts,
To meet a someone true who lasts.

Ice cold love

If your heart melts on seeing me
Why be the ice that's not even hard from within.
The thin crust of cold that you wear, let it break.
It may seem like it's long due
But it's not over yet .

Don't hold back of whatever million reasons you think,
Because of which we cannot be.
Cause every dream, every day and everytime of my waking hours,
All I think is of you, of how not   to be apart.

Why don't you ever believe,
Together we can make right every problem there is.
Just hold your hand out and feel my hand shiver,
From the ache of love and the  desperate days' fever.

You don't know how badly the days pass.
You won't stay, this feeling in my heart.
Just honour the days together spent, if nothing else.
And try to work it out the story rest.

Open your eyes and you will see,
we were not wrong in anything  we did.
You know my heart as i know truly yours.
The times that were bad will make us closer than before.

So have this faith in us,
believe what happened was for our best interests.
Be glad we have learned our lessons in time,
to not make mistakes in our future lives.

Let's walk together when the waters run to our feet.
Let the dancing waves wash away our guilts.
And until the night falls we sit on the beach
To watch together the sun rise on our life's sea.

A little less wonderful

Away from my heart's desire
I plan my days waiting to be admired.
My every step is for a walk in the rain
But i falter them on the puddles of drain.

When I had the chance to make a choice,
I was afraid of my weak inner voice.
I took the easier way to agree to what they say.
And I ended back being someone I hate.

Here I pray for the lovely days.
I want to play in sand, drench in rain.
No more sorrow, not this hollow,
Forget the past, there is tomorrow.

We make mistakes before we reach our fate.
We fall back down before its not even late.
We don't ever see that we're not the only ones
To feel the pains of being a failed someone.

So be brave and muster up the courage,
To face everyone who thinks you're not so great.
Cause its not over till your life's actually over.
You'll have your day when luck's in your favour.

When you open up your arms to the world,
It will welcome you back with a greater joy.
So now hug the very moment of being
a little less wonderful human  being.

The Givers

The picture book of a handful dreams;
The diaries full of things we wished;
The scribble on the newspaper faces;
The building castles out of lego pieces.

Placing our fears in the hands of two,
wanting to grow up a little too soon;
Before we know how to think up wise,
we struggle to make our choices right.

But as they say we learn as we falter,
we hurry back to our little warm shelter;
Because even the plants die without warmth,
the showers of love and the home soil charms.

We may follow the world to become old and wise
but in our roots is all the conditioning we may find;
Cause when we were young our little fingers did hold,
the hands of two lifelong givers with a heart of gold.

On the Edge

I see what I shouldn't see.
In that place that I shouldn't be.
Can you balance yourself midair
When you are halfway falling off the cliff.

A step ahead half hanging,
A foot back on the edge.
The lust of the fall to the ground
A hate for the old self not proud.

A wish to be wiser,
Curiosity of the unseen
To look for a place brighter.
A place where I've never been.

A greed bigger than that of money
A love deeper than for a honey.
A cliff steeper than any  skyscraper
A contract with the ripper.

A place of knowing, a place of the unknown
A root deeper than it should have grown.
A moment of freedom, a moment of death.
A moment of placing a life on bet.

A time for reflection, a time for deflection
A time for total introspection
A time for the shore, a time for the sea
A time to catch it before it's free.

The Rotting Book

I had ambition; all I have now is desperation.
My goals were larger than life, never to be real.
A dream carried on too far, nothing I ever feared.
Stories spun in my head like a child's imagination.

I thought of weaving threads through the clouds
before they could ever burst out loud.
I pictured the leaves without any branches
and gave them all the colours I wanted.

But no one wants the leaves non green
or the clouds to be tamed by a needle thin.
A beggar’s clothes must never be clean
and the world must always be cruel and mean.

I tried to push the buttons but had no luck with the current.
I picked up a pencil to draw but all I had was a damp paper.
I tried to swim but my limbs stopped moving out of panic.
My house was on fire but I merely watched it falling.

I was told as a young one that dreams make up your life.
So I dreamt like I had every chance for it to come alive.
But I wasn't warned about the possible externalities.
So here I am passing my days without any clarity.

I chose to tread on this path myself
when I had the will to walk away.
I pick up the pages falling off the shelf
of my life's book that is rotting away.

liberated

Today I can be a flower, as colourful, as shiny from the pearly dew.
Today I can sing my songs of life as birds soaring high do.
Today I can gallop as the wind embraces me, running fast to glory.
Today I can dance to the beat of my heart as a tribe to the drum will.
Today I find solace in the depths of the ocean as an agile fish.
Today I am floating above the ground as I found the one in me.
Today I open up my layers to set free the lights within.
Today the roaring of trees sounds lower than the echo of my voice.
Today the day is bright but I feel ignited enough to light up the streets.
Today I have in grip my will to start the journey of courage within.
Today I can travel across the land to find my temple of worship.
Today is the very day to liberate myself from the world and me.

Never Too Late

Lately it feels like there is enough reason to wait
and hold your faith in life's intention to create
days of sweat that shine like diamonds
on your forehead after days of  hard work.

Your heart's throbbing anticipating the outcome.
Expecting a win when chances of loss are handsome.
In patience you wait,
for you believe in fate.
Each victory gives the path forward.
Each loss opens newer gates.

If sailors stopped looking for land
after their many a failed attempts.
If saints shook their faith
in the powers above
when their countless prayers
were left unanswered for.

What would become of their life
if the had lost their fire.
What to live for if not to fulfil
their unfulfilled desires.

Like an injured horse left with a last race.
Like an old man working at a dying age.
Gain up the courage to regain
your passion, your dreams, it's never too late.

You and Me

Before it ends and we say goodbye,
hear my words for one last time.
For you know it is not by choice,
we are together by god's voice.

I know you feel strangled
of the worries that might become
true if our world sees the struggle
that we may face once we're one.

But do they know our breath and soul
are so tied to each other,
that through pain we learn and grow
making each other better.

They say we're not the best suited
cause of the way we're rooted.
But only we have the right to decide
whether to live together, or die.

Its not easy to find a soul
as similar in thought, as pure
Cause the way you see me, you hold
a thousand promises, a world unexplored.

The first time we were together,
we knew they won't be easy to convince.
But we never cared about them then,
so why now, after all this time.

So what matters is you and me.
Our love as deep as the sea still.
So lets take this onward journey
And hold our faith in heaven's will.

Cornered

For so long I waited it to ease.
The loneliness would never cease.
For the world round keeps on turning closer
yet I feel cornered like a loner.

The wounds on my soul have been inflicted in a way
that till today they bleed.
My faults too big for them to forgive
that I have no intentions for this guilt to be freed.

To have wanted a near perfect life,
to have worked hard for the things I liked,
to have kept my hopes up to follow my dreams
was a sin, was a sin.

They think they are wise, so wise.
Their heart full of contempt, so lies.
They think their actions and words were justified.
In whose court, I ask, must not be god's, must not be god's.

With eyes drilling me from all sides
they think they can win the war with despise.
But little do they know nothing's left of my pride.
I live to fight, with hunger, keeping pain aside.

Herself

As the first teardrop fell from her eye
she was glad, tired of holding them in for a while.
It was never easy to maintain her composure for so long
but she endured it, her tears not worthy enough to all.

She was a woman of pride
which ate her conscience at times.
But never she anticipated that one day
she would lose to reality, lose her head.

Her strength was in her beauty, her brains
her mannerism, her grace.
But it all seemed to crumble the minute
she let common opinion get to her head

Someone needs to believe in her, but why
she is too strong herself.
That's what she let others believe
so that they let her be, her lonely self.

Some battles need to be fought alone
Like hers with her inner self.
She needs a place to be called her own
The seclusion of mind gives her heart rest.

Burning...

My foot on bursting lava,
it burns,it melts to the bone.
Leaving no trace of my existence
eating me through the core.

Upon being born an innocent,
hanging between life and death
had to learn the ways of a demon
surviving on blood and flesh.

Through all these years I tried
to live as I please,
to earn through my sweat and blood
but no one was convinced.

In horror of losing my dignity
I lost my integrity.
Twisted and turned what I could not justify.
I bluffed, I cheated , I lied.

I don't respect what I have become.
In retrospect I can blame no one.
Cause I chose what I did, decided what to be,
for my decisions were wrong, so was my destiny.

Hope

To wait for a brighter day of sun
when there has been a moonless night.
To wait for the rainbow to colour
the land drowned by endless rain.

To gather the withered flowers
noticing the beauty still left .
To wish at the sinking coin
for love, wealth and happiness.

To let that butterfly fly away,
hoping for it to return someday.
To fly a kite holding its thread firmly
in the vast sky full of uncertainty.

To climb a many mountains
in search of greener pastures.
To sow the seeds of hope
waiting for them to grow.

To walk a million miles
in search of a civilisation
hoping to be saved from
the wrath of a merciless terrain.

To search for a water pond
in the scorching desert heat.
To search for a cooling shade
in rows of naked trees.

To wait for someone to be able
to acknowledge the good in you.
To cherish the life as given,
wishing for your dreams to come true...

Lost

When I fall down,
I find myself.
Lost in the world's glory.
Losing grip of who I am.

My reflection in the mirror
changes its appearance as often
as I try to copy the better ones
attempting to win them over.

I laugh as everybody does
more for others than for myself.
A life without a purpose
as empty as a bullet shell.

Dismayed at a life wasted
and the things I never did
my heart aches in the moment
of knowing what not I've been.

SnOwFaLL

Have felt the rain tickle,
now all I want is some snow
Seen the water puddle with ripples,
need skis, not paper boats.

That mountain seems so distant,
its peak shining as pearls aglow.
The sun rays stop the instant
they see the sparkle show.

Even with the blazing sun it melts down
turning into water so pure.
Into the streams, rivers and ocean,
hurriedly changing its course.

There all she tries is to be one
with the vast expanse of water
before being lifted by the sun
to fall back down next winter.
